Isla and Selah | NICU warriors Part 2

Although Selah and Isla were due in January, they arrived unexpectedly in September. Both girls each weighed less than two pounds. They fought hard along with their mommy and daddy, and after 147 days in the NICU, they finally got to go home!

While they were in the NICU, I was able to visit around Christmas time and capture some sweet heirloom photos of them. Click HERE to see the details of that unique NICU session at Community North Hospital in Indianapolis.

Conor and Lindsay took time to learn how to care for the girls at home. They had to learn to navigate having the girls on oxygen, many doctor visits and check ups, and many other hurdles that are too many to number.

But after a couple of months, we were able to set up a time to have the girls come to my studio for a special spring session!

Of course, every session is tailored to any preferences you have as a parent, and it was no different for Lindsay. The first request she had was to capture the girls in their little swim suits and sunglasses.

So I got to work planning and preparing a really fun set up!

The girls had fun floating in their raft with a “lazy river” vibe.

Next, we dressed them in sweet little yellow spring dresses. We chose some cream floral tiebacks from my studio collection to add some sweetness to the girls’ outfits.

We captured a variety of shots in these dresses including shots together, shots individually, and some close up shots so they always have a vivid memory of how sweet and cute they were at this stage.

They each have so much unique personality!

This final set up was created after Lindsay shared an inspiration photo with me.

If you have a Pinterest board or something you’ve seen elsewhere, and would love to use the same idea with your baby’s photos, I always welcome and encourage you to share these ideas with me!

Each of the girls got their own individual photos with this mauve set up. This color complimented both of them so well and really highlighted how beautiful each of them are in their own ways!

As we finished up the session, Lindsay requested that we remove their oxygen for a short time to get some quick photos of the girls without the tubes and cannulas.

We were able to remove them, and the girls stayed settled so that we were able to capture these beautiful heirloom photos that they will all be able to treasure forever!

What an honor it was to be a part of creating precious heirloom photos for this sweet family!
