Planning for your newborn session is such a fun piece of the excitement of welcoming your new baby into this world. It is an additional way to add excitement to the anticipation of your little one’s arrival!
1. Don’t wait until baby arrives to plan for your newborn session.
Although I take care of almost all of the work for your newborn session, there is a bit of planning that you need to do so that your session is unique and curated to fit your own personal preferences.
Once baby is here, you are going to be recovering from an intense labor of love. You will be dealing with sleep deprivation and all the new things that come with welcoming your baby into this world. While the time after your baby’s arrival has its magical moments, you do not need one more thing to think about and plan for at that time. You want to have all of that thought through and planned before he gets here.
2. Consider incorporating your baby’s nursery theme into one of the set ups for your newborn session.
Maybe your nursery is a storybook theme like Winnie the Pooh, Curious George, or Harry Potter. Maybe it is a fun theme like woodland, baseball, safari, princess, or a specific animal like elephants or bunnies. Maybe you have a color palette in your nursery such as different shades of blue, green and gray, pink and cream, or jewel tones. There could be an object such as trains or boats, or a specific type of flower.
It is very likely that you will want to display some of the photos from your newborn session as art work in your nursery. Having some photos that match the theme make it really fun! Once your baby is older and grows out of his nursery, you will always have these special heirlooms to look at and remember the fun nursery you had for him when he was a baby.
This also provides a fun tie to your baby’s cake smash session that you can book one year later! Many people request a set up that matches the theme of the nursery and then use that same theme for a cake smash session to celebrate the first birthday!
(And don’t forget, you will receive a credit toward your baby’s milestone package when you book a newborn package!)
3. Book your session early in your pregnancy.
The window for newborn photos is best within the first two weeks of baby’s life. We want to be sure to capture that sweet newborn stage before it is gone!
4. Think about where you’d like to display photos from your newborn session, and request one or two set ups to coordinate with the color scheme in these rooms of your home.
Aside from a set up incorporating your nursery theme, you can request other set ups that incorporate other elements. You can have photos that will coordinate with other rooms in your home. Every newborn session provides anywhere from three to five different set ups. You will have a lot of variety in your photos to enjoy in different ways!
5. Get in the photo with your baby.
I cannot stress this enough! Your baby wants to know what you looked like when he arrived! I will be sure to capture the love you have for this child so that when you look back at these photos, you are reminded again and again of the amazing blessing of this sweet life God gave you to love and care for. Your child will see these emotions in your photos and it will be a special gift to both you and him when he is older.
I am thrilled to provide the details for your session according to your preferences! Just like your baby is one of a kind and unique, your newborn session will be unique and special and customized to fit your preferences and personality!
